Mapplethorpe, un omaggio lungo un anno al Guggenheim di New York

Strutturato in due parti, Implicit Tensions: Mapplethorpe Now celebra, nella cornice del Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum di New York, la carriera dell'influente fotografo statunitense scomparso nel 1989. Fino al 10 luglio, la prima delle due mostre in programma presenta i punti salienti dalla donazione fatta al museo dalla Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation nel 1993; esposte le prime Polaroid, i collage, alcune opere a tecnica mista e fotografie iconiche. A partire dal 4 luglio – e fino al 5 gennaio 2020 – la seconda parte del progetto Implicit Tensions sposterà l’attenzione sull’influenza di Mapplethorpe sulle generazioni successive, concentrandosi in particolare sulla sua eredità nell’arte contemporanea.
