Prima mostra "site-sensitive"organizzata in Arabia Saudita, Desert X AlUla è in corso in un'area di grande interesse naturalistico a circa un'ora di volo dalla città di Gedda. Organizzata da Desert X, in collaborazione con la Royal Commission of AlUla (RCU), curata da Raceme Farsi e Aya Alireza con Neville Wakefield, direttore artistico della kermesse Desert X fondata nel 2015, l'esposizione riunisce le voci di 14 tra artisti e collettivi internazionali. Ciascun partecipante è stato chiamato a misurarsi con la dimensione affascinante, lunare e complessa del deserto. Installate anche a ridosso delle spettacolari formazioni rocciose, tipiche di questa zona dell'Arabia, le installazioni intendono attivare un dialogo interculturale tra gli artisti del Paese ospite e della sua regione di riferimento, coinvolgendo anche autori provenienti dall'Europa e dall'America. La pluralità di forme e materiali, i molteplici orizzonti concettuali e la natura del luogo rendono la mostra un evento di notevole impatto visivo.
