Arrivano da Arabia Saudita, Messico, Stati Uniti, Ghana, Polonia, Argentina, Colombia ed Egitto. Rispondono ai nomi di Zahrah Alghamdi, Ghada Amer, Felipe Baeza, Serge Attukwei Clottey, Nicholas Galanin, Alicja Kwade, Oscar Murillo, Christopher Myers, Eduardo Sarabia, Xaviera Simmons, Kim Stringfellow e Vivian Suter: sono gli artisti partecipanti a Desert X, la biennale d’arte contemporanea dedicata all’esplorazione del paesaggio naturale. La terza edizione della kermesse è stata appena inaugurata nella Coachella Valley, la vasta area della California meridionale conosciuta soprattutto come sede di uno festival musicali più seguiti del pianeta. È proprio qui che fino al 16 maggio prossimo resteranno esposte le installazioni site specific degli artisti selezionati. Si tratta di interventi anche di dimensioni considerevoli in cui ciascun autore ha affrontato, secondo il proprio linguaggio, il tema del deserto inteso come luogo naturale estremo e come “contenitore” di una pluralità di identità sociali. Il percorso di visita, esclusivamente fruibile all'aperto e considerato dunque sicuro, è stato curato dal direttore artistico Neville Wakefield e dal co-curatore César García-Alvarez.
